Bursary to volunteer overseas
Project & Pod News / 23 September 2018Are you looking to volunteer overseas, but finding it financially difficult to take up the opportunity you really want? Then you might benefit from our Pod Volunteer Bursary!
We have launched our bursary scheme to help remove the financial barrier that people may face when looking to join a volunteer placement. The Pod Volunteer Bursary Scheme is open to everyone, you just need to be at least 18 when you start volunteering.
Our bursary allows 2 volunteers to join either our Animal Rescue or Community Education projects in India for 4 weeks. You can learn all about the bursary here: www.podvolunteer.org/bursary
We would like more people to be able to reap the benefits of volunteering. Volunteering allows people to broaden their horizons, gain new skills and experience life changing projects. You get to work alongside international volunteers and by assisting inspirational local teams it helps you to understand global issues at a personal level! It also allows you to see things in a different light when you get back home; not only helping you to appreciate many things you may take for granted but helping you make more considered decisions on situations that life may throw at you.
Not only do our volunteers in India get to be part of a fantastic project, they will also live with a warm and welcoming family (who are in the photo below) and are able to learn about Indian culture, language and religions. Gaurav and Ravi who run the charity in India also organise trips for volunteers to see some beautiful sights of Rajasthan including a mesmerising marble temple and an impressive ancient fortress.
Gaurav, who runs the projects in India tells us how hosting bursary volunteers will help them:
“The extra help from the bursary volunteers will give extra help to our projects.
Volunteers help by giving their time to underprivileged communities and help us by bringing better education through creativity and ideas to the classrooms. They help promoting education within those communities where children attending schools for the first time as their parents never had access to any education.
Volunteers help in supporting an animal rescue team who help injured street animal by giving them care that they deserve. With volunteers extra love and care, animals can get boost with healing and this could also mean saving more animals.
Volunteering is a two way street. The benefits of volunteering is by being a piece in the bigger picture and it can also benefit you as well as the cause you choose to help. By volunteering we can continue to help the communities and animals in need and the bursary volunteers will help us achieving our goals of providing better education and helping rescue injured street animals.”
