We’ve put together a list of some of best current funding, bursaries, grants and scholarships which are available for volunteering abroad. 

Each one has different criteria and amounts available, so you can look through the different options to find which ones could suit you best. 

UK wide schemes

  • YOG Travel Bursary - an award of £1000 towards any program the recipient books with Pod Volunteer or another participating member of YOG. The bursary is open to anyone aged 17+ years at time of application
  • The Turing Scheme - UK government programme which provides funding for international opportunities in education and training across the world 
  • Rotary Foundation Scholarships – funding for projects which help protect the environment, provide clean water, sanitation, and support education
  • Young Explorer's Trust - grants for young adults aged up to 25 who are planning adventurous pursuits or expeditions 
  • John Muir Trust - Des Rubens and Bill Wallace Grant - grants of up to £2,000 to help give people the opportunity to seek out life-changing experiences in wild places
  • The Churchill Fellowship - funding for people aged 18+ to discover new ideas that they care passionately about anywhere in the world
